Kill Bill Super DVD Finally On The Way?
With added anime gubbins?
Remember four years ago when we were all anticipating the, surely, imminent release of a big super-duper giant-sized DVD box set of
Kill Bill? You know, the one Quentin Tarantino kept promising us? Well, try to put yourself in a 2004 frame of mind (listen to some Franz Ferdinand and get an ironic mullet, if it helps) because that DVD may be soon to arrive.
Uma Thurman spoke to MTV recently and said that the set, known as The Whole Bloody Affair, is imminent, and that there would be new footage added. "Right now [Quentin] is putting the two films together with an intermission with an added anime sequence he had already written," she explained. "So, additional stories are in there, in animation". She added that the anime "has nothing to do with [The Bride]. It has to do with another character". Click

Way back when, Tarantino said that he wanted to make further sub-stories for the film and that anime installments would be an origin story of Bill and his goons, and another on the history of The Bride. Could this extra anime be the former? He's also mentioned wanting to make a sequel to the movie, following a revenge mission by Nicki, the daughter of Vernita Green, slain by The Bride in front of her child's eyes.
So, is it too late to be bringing a new box set out? We don't think so. We still love the first film to bits and have a lot of affection for the second. One of our number actually saw the two films spliced together by Tarantino and said it worked really well. More footage, plus lots of extras, would have us reaching for our wallets.
