Een paar dagen geleden binnen gekregen van play.com:

A Muppet Family Christmas / The Christmas Toy

Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.

It's the afternoon of Christmas Eve. Kermit and the gang from "The Muppet Show" are piled up in a truck of Fozzie's, as they're on their way to his mother's house to spend Christmas together. Yet Fozzie's mother, Emily Bear, has other plans--she's on her way out the door for a Christmas in Malibu.

A nice, older man arrives to watch over Ms. Bear's house for the holidays while she is gone--it is none other than "Fraggle Rock"'s own Doc, complete with canine companion Sprocket. Doc wants to spend a nice, quiet Christmas with his dog, and Ms. Bear's isolated country farmhouse is just the place.

Scratch that.

An unexpected Fozzie shows up to warmly surprise his mother, followed by an unexpected Kermit and a likewise unexpected plethora of Muppets. Those along for the festivities include:

Gonzo
Scooter
Robin
Sam Eagle
Dr. Teeth
Floyd
Janice
Zoot
Animal
Beaker
Bunsen
Rizzo
Camilla
Beauregard
various chickens and rats

The Muppets noisily make themselves at home as Fozzie's mother tries to take it all in. Doc is not too happy--a house full of Muppets somehow doesn't seem quiet enough for him. Ms. Bear isn't quite ecstatic, either: "You think you're disappointed?! I just took three months of surfing lessons for zip!" In the meantime, Kermit gets a call from Miss Piggy explaining that she will be arriving late--she's finishing up a photo shoot.

Soon The Swedish Chef arrives, all ready to make the Christmas dinner. Kermit helps get things settled in the kitchen, and we are then treated to a rollicking rendition of "Jingle Bell Rock" by the always entertaining Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

Rowlf is next to arrive and he finds great joy in speaking dog with Sprocket. A new Muppet character comes to the house, a turkey, who tells Gonzo he was invited by the Swedish Chef. Meanwhile, Scooter finds old home movies of the Muppets' first Christmas when they were Muppet babies.

The turkey soon finds himself attracted to Camilla, which doesn't go over too well with Gonzo. Just when things look as if they're getting too out-of-hand, Kermit interrupts by saying that he thinks he hears carolers. They open the front door, and sure enough, marching through the snow is the gang from "Sesame Street"! Residents of the beloved street include:

Big Bird
Oscar
Ernie
Bert
Count Von Count
Grover
Herry Monster
Guy Smiley
Gladys the Cow
The Two-Headed Monster
Cookie Monster
various honkers and monsters

They all come inside, and Ms. Bear tries to find more sleeping arrangements. Soon the weather report turns grim (watch for a fabulous cameo of the "Muppet Show" Newsman), and Kermit continues to worry about Piggy. She has finished some shopping and is determined to make it to the farmhouse for Christmas Eve.

The Swedish Chef is dumbstruck when Big Bird waltzes into the kitchen--having been pointed out by the cowardly turkey--but the canary gets to the Chef's heart by saying that he bets he misses his family back in Sweden. The Chef is touched at Bird's caring, and they become fast friends--and Big Bird doesn't get cooked (phew).

Ernie soon says it's time for the "Sesame Street" Christmas pageant, and he, Bert, and various monsters perform "'Twas the Night Before Christmas".

Fozzie had been building a snowman outside sometime earlier with some wildlife friends, and now brings his new friend into the house to do a joke act for Kermit and the others--that's right, the snowman is alive. A pleasant surprise (for us, not Fozzie) is the appearance of Statler and Waldorf just in time to heckle their routine. It turns out they're old friends of Ms. Bear's.

After a while Kermit is really worried about Piggy in the snowstorm, and Doc goes out to look for her. He is starting to take more of a liking to all of these Muppets and wants to help out Kermit. Kermit then hears Robin calling from the cellar, and goes down to see what's up. Astonished, the two frogs find a fraggle hole in Ms. Bear's cellar! They go in to investigate, and who should they run upon but the gang from "Fraggle Rock". All five are there: Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober, and Red.

It turns out the fraggles have a similar holiday time of sharing and being with people you love, and they are celebrating it right now. After a nice little visit Kermit says they should be going, and they all wish each other a Merry Christmas.

Hark! Scooter then hollers down that they believe some noise outside could be Miss Piggy. It is, and the swine diva has somehow managed to arrive in a sled pulled by dogs--with Doc as her costumed driver. Everyone is happy she's made it safely to the country, and they all go in for a Christmas carol sing-along.

After a wonderful medley of carols performed by various Muppets (the fraggles even come up to see what's going on), Ms. Bear genuinely welcomes all of her guests into her home. Santa Clause even makes a brief appearance, and Kermit gives Miss Piggy her Christmas gift. Then it's time to wrap things up as the Muppet all wish us a Merry Christmas!
Erg leuk is de grote hoeveelheid liedjes!

Naast A Muppet family Christmas staat hier ook The Christmas Toy op.

All the toys in Jamie's playroom are eagerly awaiting Christmas -- especially Rugby the Tiger, Jamie's favorite toy last year! Rugby thinks he'll be wrapped up in a shiny box again this year to be opened Christmas morning!
When no one comes to place him under the tree, Rugby sneaks down to find his gift box for himself! But if a toy's secret life is discovered, it loses its magical power to come alive when humans aren't around!
It's up to Rugby's toy friends to rescue him from danger, but it won't be easy! Rugby's already unwrapped this year's new toy, who refuses to go back into her box! Only Rugby can save them now, by welcoming the new toys that will join them on Christmas morning. Story narrated by Kermit.

Musical Highlights:
"Try the Impossible" and "Old Friends"
