And last but certainly not least, we received a confirmation from Fox PR today that the upcoming The X-Files: The Complete Fifth Season will indeed be in anamorphic widescreen, and that we'll be receiving a full press release very soon. Stay tuned!

Die Cris Carter toch... In een eerdere post had ik een stukje op de website van X-Files gevonden waarin werd verteld dat het full-frame (1.33:1) ZOU WORDEN. Maar wat blijkt vandaag. Het mysterie van het wel/geen widescreen is ontrafelt.

Sinds vandaag staat op http://www.thexfiles.com/news het volgende:

Season Five will be released on DVD on May 14, 2002 in North America. All episodes from The X-Files fifth season are compiled on six dual-layered discs and are available in anamorphic widescreen (aspect ratio 1.78:1), a first for any of our DVD Collections. Each episode is presented with English and French Dolby Surround sound and English and Spanish subtitles.

Kogel is door de kerk. Weer een X-File opgelost. Seizoen 5 wordt 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen.

In other news, we've confirmed with 20th Century Fox that their The X-Files: The Complete Fifth Season (street date: May 14th) WILL be in anamorphic widescreen after all. There was some question, but Fox says the episodes are in 16x9. Good news indeed.
