De echte liefhebber weet natuurlijk al lang waar het over gaat, maar deze twee indrukwekkende meesterwerken komen nu eindelijk uit op DVD, en ze zijn nu zelfs al te pre-orderen bij Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00003CXAY/ref%3Dt%5Fth%5Fem%5Fpo/002-8014311-7129605)

Dat scheelt, want ik meen te herinneren dat de huidige editie van Koyaanisqatsi iets van €100,- kost. Da's dus nu verleden tijd. Goede zaak!

Godfrey Reggio's sequel to Koyaanisqatsi, Released in 1988, 99 minutes.
The second part of Reggio's Qatsi trilogy.
Powaqqatsi concentrates on people of the developing world.
Images from Brazil, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Nepal, and Peru make the film a good contrast to Koyaanisqatsi.
"Where KOYAANISQATSI dealt with the imbalance between nature and modern society, POWAQQATSI is a celebration of the human-scale endeavor the craftsmanship, spiritual worship, labor and creativity that defines a particular culture. It's also a celebration of rareness - the delicate beauty in the eyes of an Indian child, the richness of a tapestry woven in Kathmandu - and yet an observation of how these societies move to a universal drumbeat."

Nou wordt ik toch heel benieuwd waar deel 3 over gaat. Er is niet zo heel veel over bekend, maar dit heeft Spirit of Baraka (http://www.spiritofbaraka.com) er over staan :
Godfrey Reggio's third and final part of the Qatsi trilogy.
Currently in production.
"NAQOYQATSI chronicles the most significant event of the last five thousand years: the transition from the natural milieu, old nature, to the "new" nature, the technological milieu."
The IRE (Institute for Regional Education) is currently looking for donations to fund the production of this film.

Het wordt mooier en mooier, nu las ik dit op DVD Debate:
The late-summer slate from MGM features two highly-anticipated documentaries — Godfrey Reggio's 1983 Koyaanisqatsi and 1988 Powaqqatsi will arrive on Sept. 17 with new featurettes on both discs and trailers for all three films in the trilogy (the third, Naquoyqatsi, arrives in theaters in October).
En dan las ik ergens anders ook nog dit :
Ron Fricke is also working on a sequel to Baraka entitled Samsara. Het wordt een goed jaar voor de liefhebber ! :D

Er was volgens www.koyanisqatsi.org een gigantisch probleem met de rechten en zou daarom nooit voor het 'publiek' uitkomen.
Nu maar hopen dat ie ook met NL subtitels komt ;)
