Walt Disney Records: The Legacy Collection

Walt Disney Records lanceert op 24 juni a.s. een nieuwe serie CD's genaamd The Legacy Collection. Tot en met augustus 2015 wordt er Iedere maand een CD uitgebracht met niet eerder uitgebrachte muziek. The Lion King is de eerste CD die wordt uitgebracht. De uitgave bestaat uit 2 discs met op disc 1 de welbekende liedjes van Elton John en Tim Rice en 30 minuten aan niet eerder uitgebrachte filmmuziek van Hans Zimmer. Disc 2 bevat demo's van Hans Zimmer's filmmuziek, liedjes die niet in de originele bioscoopversie te horen waren en drie liedjes gezongen door Elton John die ook op de eerder uitgebrachte CD stonden.

De uitgave heeft een boekachtige verpakking waarin de liedteksten staan. De discs zitten niet in een tray, maar in een hoesje. Persoonlijk ben ik niet te spreken over deze manier van opslaan van discs, omdat het risico op krassen groot is bij het uithalen van de discs.

Inmiddels zijn de specificaties van Mary Poppins bekend gemaakt. De uitgave bevat 3 discs, maar disc 1 en 3 zijn al eerder uitgebracht als disc 1 en 2 van de 2-disc Special Edition CD ter ere van de 40ste verjaardag van de film. Alleen disc 2 bevat wat nieuwe tracks, maar dat zijn wat demo's en nieuw opgenomen versies van liedjes. De CD verschijnt op 26 augustus. Hieronder de artwork en tracklist.

Disney Music’s Legacy Collection Release Calendar Updated; ‘Toy Story’ Release Postponed Indefinitely

With an originally advertised release date of March 17, 2015 looming dangerously near with no official mention of the Toy Story 20th Anniversary entry in the Disney Music Emporium’s Legacy Collection, several readers have reached out to us asking if we had any additional information. We, in turn, have reached out to Disney Music to confirm rumors that the Toy Story album may be delayed and we regret to report that a delay has in fact been confirmed to us. While we have seen reports about a May release, the information given to us by Disney Music was not quite as optimistic, offering only that the release date is officially ‘to be determined’ and Disney is hopeful that it is ready for release by the time Disney D23 Expo happens in August. Specific reasons for its delay were not provided, however it is interesting to note that one of the titles — Cinderella — was announced for an early release at the Expo, but has been moved up by over a month.

In addition, Disney has offered us an updated calendar for the remaining releases announced in the first year of the Legacy Collection program. They are as follows:

- Lady and the Tramp 60th Anniversary — April 28, 2015, exclusively through Intrada (Originally May 12)
- Disneyland 60th Anniversary — In-park on May 6, 2015; Available everywhere else August 18, 2015 (Originally April 7)
- Cinderella 65th Anniversary — June 23, 2015 (Originally August 14 / Disney D23 Expo)
- Pocahontas 20th Anniversary — July 21, 2015 (Originally June 23)
- The Aristocats 45th Anniversary — At Disney D23 Expo on August 11, 2015; Available everywhere else on August 18, 2015 (Originally August 14 everywhere).

Ik kende deze serie nog niet maar ik liep er tegenaan (en tegen dit topic) toen ik zocht naar een nieuwe release van Fantasia. Dit omdat ik de laatste tijd veel met filmsoundtracks bezig ben. Ik ga al die jaren later nog eens wat titels van de Legacy Collection verwerven. (y)
