'Dad's Army' movie with female Mainwaring in the works?
A film version of Dad's Army is reportedly in the works.
The classic BBC sitcom would be revamped for the big screen and could feature a
female Captain Mainwaring, according to The Independent.
The show's co-creator Jimmy Perry - who wrote the series with the late David Croft - is "in the midst of discussions" about the project, according to his agent Lynda Ronan.
The original Dad's Army - which followed the British military's Home Guard during the Second World War - aired on BBC One between July 31, 1968 and November 13, 1977 and starred Arthur Lowe as the pompous Captain George Mainwaring.
A feature film spinoff was filmed between the show's third and fourth series and was released in the UK and US in 1971.
Series star Clive Dunn - who played Lance-Corporal Jones - passed away last week following complications from an operation.
