Finally this afternoon, we have details on Artisan's forthcoming T2: Extreme DVD (street date 6/3, SRP $29.98). The 2-disc set will come in a special 3D metal box package. The film itself has apparently been mastered from a brand-new 1080p, 24sf high-definition digital transfer, with frame-by-frame restoration done to ensure the best possible image quality. Naturally, it'll be presented in anamorphic widescreen on DVD, and is THX-certified. Audio will be available in Dolby Dolby 5.1 Surround EX and there will be a Dolby Headphone option included as well. Note that the film will be the 16-minute-longer special edition version.

The new extras were once again produced by Van Ling, as they were for the previous T2: Ultimate Edition DVD. These will include an all-new audio commentary track with James Cameron and William Wisher, an "extreme interactive mode" with with "graphic commentary" and rare behind-the-scenes footage, the all-new No Feat But What We Make documentary (on the role of T2 in the evolution of digital effects and modern filmmaking), the T2: On the Set retrospective montage (featuring rare production footage), the interactive Infiltration Unit Simulator and T2 FX Studio (which lets you morph your imported images into a T-1000 or a T-800 Terminator and gives you background on the FX technology, all via DVD-ROM) and the interactive Skynet Combat Chassis Designer game (which lets you build your own unique robots and test them on a simulated obstacle course).

Nou, van deze specs raak ik niet echt onder de indruk hoor, ik vind deze versie meer geldklopperij dan een toevoeging voor de film. Tis meer een franchise actie met het oog op de relaese van T3.

ik zeg nogmaals,wat een gekke specs.tis net alsof ze er een pcgame van gemaakt hebben...(alweer!)

de cover is enorm gaaf,en ja,t beeld nog beter,ik vraag t me ook af ja...

die 16 minuten aan deleted scenes,dat zijn gewoon dezelfde als in de special edition denk ik zo.dat zijn nl ook 16 minuten extra tov de theatrical edition...

Er staat idd alleen de Special Edition versie op, en die is 16 min. langer dan de theatrical Cut. Niks nieuws dus. Een t3 preview is grappig, maar die dvd wordt ook wel volgepropt met extra's, dus om nou alles weer dubbel te hebben. Voorderest vind ik die dvd-rom opies maar niks. Je doet er haast nooit iets mee (mochten ze het al doen). Die docu's: ach ja, misschien idd leuk voor de heb. Las ie goedkoop op net forum wordt aangeboden doe ik het wel, ik ga voorlopig eerst voor de Alien 9-disc box.

Ok, het is mijn ultime nummer 1 film, maar ik ga echt niet nog een exemplaar kopen alleen vanwege wat extra dingen. Zonde van het geld en als klap op de vuurpijl nog regio 1 ook ...

(enne .... grote kans dat je eind 2003 een 3 dvd-box kan gaan kopen met alle drie films erin .... )

Today the final specs for Artisan's upcoming re-re-release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day arrived and they confirmed a long-running rumor that the DVD would include a high-definition version of the film using a Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 file.

This may sound strange to you, but it is actually quite cool. Microsoft has developed a low-bitrate HD compression codec that is just now being experimented with on some Artisan DVDs. It allows high-def quality video on the same amount of disc space as a regular single-layer DVD. Artisan's Standing in the Shadows of Motown includes a Windows Media Player 9 version of the film in high-def on disc two. Not only does it look incredible; it only takes up about 3 gigs on the disc.

Naturally, you'll need some horsepower to correctly run these files on your PC. You'll need at least a 1.8ghz Pentium 4 with a nice chunk of RAM and a 5.1 compatible soundcard to take advantage of the audio. However, if you have all of that the high-def version looks a lot nicer than running the regular DVD on your PC.

nee, dat ben ik niet van plan. Ik kan mijn € en $ maar 1 keer uitgeven. Ik heb de normale uitgave van T2 via Play en daar ben ik dik tevreden mee.

Ik ben heel erg benieuwd naar de high def. wmp9 versie van de film (wellicht 1080p?).

Ik hoop dat dit aanslaat, dan hebben we voor het blue ray gebeuren doorbreekt al een mogelijkheid voor high def. video thuis!

Further to our news a couple of months ago about Artisan's re-release of the sci-fi epic Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the studio have announced further details, including a little surprise.

For those who have never seen the movie, it was made 12 years ago in 1991 by director James Cameron and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, Robert Patrick, Earl Boen, Joe Morton, S. Epatha Merkerson, Castulo Guerra, Jenette Goldstein and Xander Berkeley.

A decade after Sarah Connor (Hamilton) destroyed the original Terminator, a second unstoppable killing machine (Schwarzenegger) arrives from the post-apocalyptic year 2029. But this time his mission is to stop an even deadlier Terminator, the T-1000 (Patrick), made entirely of shape-shifting liquid metal and determined to kill young John Connor (Furlong), the future leader of the human resistance. Sarah, John, and the Terminator counter by going after the scientist responsible for developing Skynet, the computer system fated to destroy humanity, leading to an explosive and spectacular clash with the fate of humanity in the balance.

Contrary to original reports, this new "Extreme Edition" is not just a rehash of the existing "Ultimate Edition" - which utilised seamless branching to deliver three versions of the movie with both Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks. The new version of the film will be presented on two discs - disc one contains the special edition of the movie, presented in anamorphic widescreen with a Dolby Digital 6.1 EX soundtrack along with a commentary track from James Cameron and behind the scenes footage. The second disc contains the theatrical edition of the movie, presented in 1080p high definition, only playable through Windows XP and Windows Media Player 9. Extras on the second platter include a featurette entitled "No Feat But What We Make" the "T2: On the Set" and some DVD-ROM games. The disc is due out on 3rd June 2003 and will have a suggested retail price of $29.95.

Ik denk wel dat je gelijk gaat krijgen wat betreft een box met 3 delen. Want ze beginnen nu al met 2 delen

MGM Home Entertainment U.K. brengt The Terminator DVD Collection Box met daarin The Terminator & Terminator 2: Judgement Day (4 DVD's) net voor Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. MGM heeft deel 1 uitgebracht, maar deel 2 is natuurlijk in handen van Artisan. Voor Europa is dat Kinowelt/Studio Canal.

Volgens mij was dat niet nodig. Ik kan me niet voorstellen dat ze deze film zo uitbrengen en dan niet denken aan de mensen die misschien geen high-end PC hebben.

Check anders even wat ze er op ign van zeggen.

Ze hebben er trouwens een vergelijking van de ultieme editie met de extreme editie gemaakt. Maar daar moet je 'insider' voor zijn en dat kost natuurlijk weer geld. Is er toevallig iemand hierzo die er wel bij kan?
