Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Body Heat: Deluxe Edition for 24th October 2006 priced at $19.97 SRP. Marking the directing debut of Lawrence Kasdan (The Big Chill, The Accidental Tourist and Grand Canyon), Body Heat echoes the 1940s film noir genre in the tradition of Double Indemnity and The Postman Always Rings Twice, but with explicit sexuality that would never have been allowed then. Academy Award(R)-winning actor William Hurt stars as naive attorney Ned Racine, playing opposite Kathleen Turner in her film debut as married socialite Maddie Walker. Ned's lust for Maddie blinds him to the deadly consequences of seduction and deception and takes him on a runaway ride of passion, with a one-way ticket to trouble. John Barry provided the sultry score; Ted Danson and Mickey Rourke are memorable in supporting roles.

    Features include:

    Remastered Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
    Lifted scenes
1981 interview footage with Kathleen Turner and William Hurt
    Theatrical trailer

    Three new featurettes:
    - Body Heat: The Plan - Explores the script and the cast with new interviews from Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Turner, William Hurt and Ted Danson.
    - The Production - Explores the making of the film and production stories - with new interviews from Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Turner, William Hurt, Ted Danson, Richard H. Kline (director of photography), and Carol Littleton (editor).
    - The Post-production Explores the editing, the music and the theatrical release - with new interviews from Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Turner, William Hurt, Ted Danson, Richard H. Kline (director of photography), Carol Littleton (editor) and John Barry (composer).

Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Hollywood's Legends of Horror Collection for 10th October 2006 priced at $39.92 SRP. Mark of the Vampire (1935) / The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932)
Bela Lugosi again dons the cape in "Mark of the Vampire," a tale of murders believed to be the macabre work of bloodsuckers. Tod Browning ("Dracula," "Freaks") directs.

Boris Karloff aims for world conquest in the wickedly warped title role in "The Mask of Fu Manchu." Assisted by his temptress daughter (Myrna Loy), Manchu seeks the sword and mask of Genghis Khan and their magical powers.

"The Return of Doctor X": Humphrey Bogart plays a pallid, bunny-cuddling, once-dead fiend who needs his victims' blood to stay alive. Vincent Sherman ("Mr. Skeffington," "Old Acquaintance") directs.

When her husband's hands are maimed in an accident, Gogol obliges Yvonne by replacing the hands with those of a recently executed killer. Karl Freund ("The Mummy") directs with expressionistic flair.

In the quaint toy shop of "The Devil-Doll," Devil's Island escapee Paul Lavond (Lionel Barrymore) poses as a female shop proprietress and uses secrets of miniaturization to turn humans into elusive minions who inflict revenge on all who sent him to prison. Tod Browning ("Freaks") directs. Maureen O'Sullivan co-stars.

Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of the Motion Picture Masterpieces collection for 10th October 2006. Five film masterpieces adapted from literary classics and made during Hollywood's golden era make their debut in this collection. All are from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, known then as the "Tiffany of movie studios": David O. Selznick's Oscar(R)-nominated screen translations of Charles Dickens' David Copperfield and A Tale of Two Cities; the 1940 Laurence Olivier/Greer Garson version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice; Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island" featuring the irresistible re-teaming of Wallace Beery and Jackie Cooper; and the opulent Marie Antoinette, starring Tyrone Power and Norma Shearer. The five-disc collection will sell for $49.92 SRP with individual titles available for $19.97 SRP.

    Marie Antoinette (1939)
Norma Shearer stars in this unforgettable performance as France's tragic queen. Tyrone Power plays opposite her; John Barrymore is crafty Louis XV and Robert Morley was Oscar(R) -nominated as Louis XVI.

Painstakingly restored from its recently discovered original camera negative, this remastered edition brings back the film’s original ‘road show’ presentation including Overture and Exit Music.

    Extras include:
    - Oscar Nominated Short The Great Heart
    - Vintage Short Another Romance of Celluloid goes behind the scenes on this and other studio productions that year
    - Theatrical Trailer

    David Copperfield (1935)
Lionel Barrymore, Maureen O'Sullivan, Basil Rathbone, among others, joined W.C. Fields and Freddie Bartholomew as the eccentrics, cads and loving family. Nominated for 3 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, the movie was directed by George Cukor and produced by David O. Selznick.

Warner Home Video’s new presentation is another beautiful restoration and remastering effort that brings new life to a film that, for decades, has looked grainy and washed out. As always, Warner Bros.’ archivists embarked on a worldwide search for the best available elements, and here the original nitrate camera negative was located, allowing a full photochemical film restoration and preservation to create the new video master. The result is a tribute to the hundreds of people who contributed their skills and talents to the first DVD release of this beloved classic.

    Extras include:
    - Vintage Technicolor Musical Shorts: Pirate Party on Catalina Isle and Two Hearts in Wax Time
    - Classic M-G-M cartoon Poor Little Me
    - Audio-Only bonus: Leo Is on the Air Radio Promo
    - Theatrical trailer

    Pride and Prejudice (1940)
Greer Garson plays the spirited Elizabeth, one of five Bennet sisters hoping for matrimony. Laurence Olivier plays Darcy, whose arrival at a nearby estate sets their maiden hearts aflutter. Elizabeth and Darcy find reasons to view each other with disdain, setting in motion a velvet struggle of pride and prejudice, perception and reality, forgiveness and love.

    Extras include:
    - Oscar-Nominated Crime Doesn’t Pay Short Eyes of the Navy
    - Classic Cartoon The Fishing Bear
    - Theatrical Trailer

A Tale of Two Cities (1935)
Charles Dickens' novel of love and turmoil during the French Revolution comes to the screen in this sumptuous version by David O. Selznick. Ronald Colman stars as Sydney Carton. It's filled with uncanny performances, eye-filling crowd scenes and lasting emotional power.

    - Oscar-Nominated Short Audioscopicks
    - 2 Classic Cartoons: Hey, Hey Fever and Honeyland
    - Audio-Only Bonus: Radio Show Adaptation Starring Colman

But the notorious, one-legged Long John Silver has signed on to the voyage by posing as a cook. Will the treasure fall into his scheming grasp?

    Extras include:
    - Vintage early 3-Strip Technicolor M-G-M short The Spectacle Maker (1934) directed by John Farrow

Warner Home Video has announced the upcoming release of The Tarzan Collection Volume 2 for 31st October 2006.
