Fincher Helming Zodiac & Benjamin Button

Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have signed David Fincher to direct Zodiac, starring Mark Ruffalo, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, back-to-back.

Variety says Fincher (Panic Room) is in pre-production on Zodiac, which also stars Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal and Anthony Edwards. Production is slated to start in September, with Jamie Vanderbilt adapting from Robert Graysmith's "Zodiac" and 2002 sequel "Zodiac Unmasked: The Identity of America's Most Elusive Serial Killer Revealed." Shooting will take place in San Francisco - where the Zodiac Killer operated starting in the late 1960s - and in Los Angeles.

Warner is taking the lead on producing Zodiac. Paramount will handle domestic distribution while Warner will handle international.

Par and Warner are aiming for Fincher to start lensing "Benjamin Button" in October 2006. Pitt and Blanchett currently are starring in Paramount's Babel. "Button" will mark the third time Pitt has teamed with Fincher following Se7en and Fight Club.

"Benjamin Button" is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall with a script by Eric Roth (Forrest Gump). The film centers on a man who, at age 50, begins aging backward and the complications that ensue when he falls in love with a woman of 30. The story's been set in New Orleans.

Paramount is taking the lead on "Button" and handling domestic distribution; Warner will market the film in foreign territories.

Gary Oldman in Fincher's Zodiac

Gary Oldman is set to play attorney Melvin Belli in Zodiac, Paramount and Warner Bros.' serial killer thriller to be directed by David Fincher, reports Variety.

Oldman (Batman Begins) will star alongside Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal and Anthony Edwards. Production is slated to begin in September, with Jamie Vanderbilt adapting from Robert Graysmith's "Zodiac" and 2002 sequel "Zodiac Unmasked: The Identity of America's Most Elusive Serial Killer Revealed."

Belli, the San Francisco-based "King of Torts," received a letter from the Zodiac in 1969 in which the killer wished the attorney a Merry Christmas and said he hoped to retain enough self-control not to claim a ninth and 10th victim.

Verheug me nu er al op, films van david fincher zijn altijd meesterwerken orgineel/goede camera/montage prima onderwerpen geen flutfilms etc.

Chloë Sevigny Joins Fincher's Zodiac

Chloë Sevigny has joined the cast of the David Fincher thriller Zodiac, co-produced by Warner Bros. and Paramount, says Variety.

Sevigny will play the girlfriend of Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal), a San Francisco Chronicle cartoonist who tried to crack the mystery of the infamous serial slayer. The Zodiac killer terrorized the San Francisco area from 1966-78, committing at least 37 murders and documenting his exploits in snide missives mailed to the newspaper.

Sevigny's currently starring in the new HBO series Big Love opposite Bill Paxton.

Gary Oldman is 1 van me favoriete actuers alleen kiest hij nog wel eens een verkeerde film uit. Alleen nu lijkt hij toch een goede keus te hebben gemaakt. Ik heb veel respect voor Fincher en ook Jake Gyllenhaal is een groot talent dus wie weet.

Ik denk dat dit weer een gevalletje Deep Impact/Armageddon of Troy/Alexander gaat worden waarbij uiteraard Fincher's film met de eer gaat strijken...

De trailer belooft veel goeds.

Kijk hier wel naar uit.
Volgens Moviemeter komt de film op 10 mei in de bioscoop, valt dus nog mee met het wachten.
