Cameron Diaz en Jim Carrey zullen opnieuw samen op het grote scherm te zien zijn in 'A Little Game without Consequence' van regisseur Gabriele Muccino. (L'Ultimo bacio, The Pursuit of Happyness) Productie : Focus (Eternal Sunshine)

Based on a French play by Jean Dell and Gérald Sibleyras, "Consequence" follows Brad (Carrey) and Claire (Diaz), a seemingly perfect couple who pretend to break up shortly after their fifth anniversary, only to discover most of their friends and family didn't really like them as a couple in the first place. The film appears to feel similiar in tone to Muccino's "L'Ultimo Bacio" (itself being remade in America asa the Zach Braff dramedy "The Last Kiss"), equal parts comedy and drama, as Brad and Claire find the path to true love is much rockier than either of them anticipated. Will Claire stay in Los Angeles with movie producer Stuart, an old childhood friend of Brad's, or will she return to New York CIty and be with her soulmate, who is now living with his ex-girlfriend Holly?

Filming begins in New York City on October 23. Focus Features has yet to set a release date, but based on the production start date, we can expect to see the film in theatres in late 2007.

Net voor het filmen van start zou gaan volgende week zijn zowel Cameron Diaz als Jim Carrey en de regisseur uit het project gestapt toen ze het vernieuwde script onder hun neus kregen. Beiden hadden gehoopt een donkere komedie te maken, maar Focus wil eerder de commerciele toer op. De film was reeds in productie en Focus gaat gewoon door met een andere regisseur. Voor Carrey is dit de derde film op een rij die werd gecancelled. 'Used Guys' met Ben Stiller werd door Fox stil gelegden 'Ripley's believe it or Not' van Tim Burton werd opgeschoven tot het nodige hogere budget beschikbaar is.

'A Little Game' werd door de acteurs en eerstgenoemde regisseur opgezegd vanwege ontevredenheid over het script. Momenteel zal het script worden herschreven en is niemand minder dan Ang Lee de nieuwe regisseur. Hoewel het script nu veranderingen zal ondergaan is het nog niet bekend of Carrey & Diaz opnieuw interesse hebben.
