Hmmm, ik vind dat hij op zijn minst aardige recensies heeft, hij is denk ik niet de minste filmcriticus. Zijn passie voor film valt moeilijk te ontkennen.

Ach, het gaat helemaal niet om een passie voor film. Het gaat om wat je met die passie doet. En Ebert doet er nooit iets mee waar ik iets mee opschiet.

Ik moet zeggen dat ik sowieso niet veel mensen (lees: geen) ben tegengekomen die zich ook maar iets van filmcritici aantrekken, iets wat ik overigens raar vind. Er is niets mis met constructieve kritiek van filmcritici. Toch?

Er is zeker niets mis met constructieve filmkritiek, integendeel. En als je nog nooit iemand bent tegengekomen die zich iets van filmkritiek aantrekt dan ben ik de eerste die je tegenkomt die dat wel doet. Alleen moet het wel van een andere niveau dan Roger Ebert zijn. Maar dat vind ik ook geen filmcriticus, dat is een flapdrol.

Ik weet niet of je zijn blog volgt, maar als je het niet doet, in het kader van dit boek: klik. Ik heb het boek inmiddels ook besteld trouwens, lijkt me erg interessant.

Ja, ik was op de hoogte van zijn blog, alleen lees ik het veel te weinig, zou het vaker moeten doen. Van het boek zul je absoluut geen spijt krijgen, dat kan ik je nu al garanderen :wink:

Ik heb hem hier besteld - maar ik zie nu dat ie ineens op onleverbaar staat terwijl ie vanmiddag nog in stock was Maar je kunt hem ook bestellen bij bijvoorbeeld Amazon.co.uk

Maar hou je er wel rekening mee dat het in het Engels is - jij vindt DVD's met enkel Engelse ondertiteling al vervelend. Daarnaast zijn deze BFI boekjes altijd zeer goed leesbaar (hoewel nog steeds een flink aantal stappen boven het gemiddelde Filmvalley niveau), maar bij Michael Chion vraag ik me af of dat ook zo is. Ik ben me nog steeds door zijn boek Audio-Vision aan het worstelen - bijzonder interessante materie, maar ontzettend abstract, Chion is de belangrijkste theoreticus op het gebied van geluid in film en geluiden zijn nu eenmaal moeilijk in woorden te vatten. Ik ga er dan ook van uit dat hij in dit boekje weer diep ingaat op geluid/muziek, temeer omdat dit voor Malick ook een belangrijk punt is. Maar laat je hierdoor niet weerhouden om je horizon te verbreden :wink:

Deze editie is in het nederlands, ik weet niet of die hetzelfde is als degene die jij besteld hebt. Maar heb deze net besteld.

Lieverd, deze 'editie' is een compleet ander boek dan wat ik besteld heb. Wat jij gekocht hebt is gewoon het boek (of scenario of whatever) waar de film op gebaseerd is. Veel plezier ermee.
