Sucker Punch

It's a busy time for Zack Snyder. The director is gearing up for the release of 300, the story of men so hard they fought entire armies while dressed as theme strippers, and he's set to direct Watchmen, a comic book widely acknowledged as unfilmable. So what he needs right now is something else to distract him. And he's found it!

Snyder is entertaining the possibility of directing Sucker Punch, a 1950s set story of a girl locked in a mental institution by an evil stepfather who plans to have her lobotomised in five days. Suggesting that said lobotomy might not be a terrible idea, she retreats into a fantasy world where she can hide and plans an escape which requires her finding five objects.

Snyder describes the world as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns" and says he was partly inspired by Moulin Rouge for its mix of period and timelessness. The story is based on a short story written by Snyder and will be the first project created by his production company, Cruel and Unusual Films.

"Sucker Punch" is samen met "Machete" de film waar ik momenteel het meest naar uitkijk.

"Set in the 1950s, it tells the story of Baby Doll (Browning), who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather and lobotomy. She ends up in mental institution in Brattleboro, Vermont and while there she starts to imagine an alternate reality. She plans to escape from that imaginary world but to do that she needs to steal five objects before she is captured by an unknown adversary. She has 5 days to escape before being lobotomized. In order to cope with the situation, she enters the hyper-real world of her imagination, and the lines between reality and dream begin to blur. She is joined with friends who are inmates from the institution. Lessons learned in the said fantasy world could help the girls escape their real-world fate."

Ik vond eerste trailer leuker. met betere montage en betere soundtrack (van lords of acid - crab louse).
Ook vind ik het verhaal zwak, al lezend viel het nog mee, maar als ze het verhaal uitleggen in de nieuwe trailer komt het toch maar over als gebrek aan een degelijk script. The last item ... is ... a mysterie, hehe

Niet dat ik niet ga genieten van deze film. De visualisatie en snyder's manier van actie in beeld te brengen zullen van deze film weer een kwijlende eye-candy prent maken. Al is de cast daar ook wel verantwoordelijk voor

Uitkijken maar!!

Alle Znyder films bieden niet echt inhoud, is dat imporant bij zijn style van filmen? Don't think so..Als je een dergelijke script verwacht, denk ik niet dat je Znyder films moet gaan kijken..

Alle Znyder films bieden niet echt inhoud, is dat imporant bij zijn style van filmen? Don't think so..Als je een dergelijke script verwacht, denk ik niet dat je Znyder films moet gaan kijken..

Denk dat je Watchmen echt wel een sterk script hebt :P

Tja, lijkt me wel wat dit eigenlijk... als het net zo vermakelijk wordt als 300 en dan nu lekkere mokkels in plaats van half naakte mannen dan moet het toch goed komen.

Wanneer de film op bluray verschijnt, zijn er heel wat mooie steelbooks van te maken denk ik. Elk grietje d'r eigen steelbook. Gaan er een aantal gek worden hier denk ik

Serieus, ik hoop dat het een toffe film gaat worden en niet te braaf.

Dit is een trailer die mij echt wel aanspreekt, de actie is natuurlijk over-the-top maar dat zijn we ondertussen al wel een beetje gewend van Zack Znyder...maar daar zeg ik zeker geen nee tegen, zelfs 300 kon ik zeer goed smaken.

Het kleurgebruik, zeker van de scenes in de lucht met die zeppelins deed me dan weer een beetje aan Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow denken...
