Zodiac: Director's Cut

With the upcoming July 24th release of Paramount's Zodiac less than two weeks away, you might be wondering why David Fincher's thriller is arriving as a bare-bones release. Good question. Thanks to one of our friends in the rental industry, we have gotten a look at a promo spot on the vanilla DVD officially announcing a "Zodiac: 2-Disc Director's Cut" arriving in 2008. Among the bonus materials that are to be included are:

* Audio Commentary by David Fincher, actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey, Jr., screenwriter James Vanderbilt, producer Brad Fischer and crime novelist James Ellroy

* Extensive behind-the-scenes featurettes detailing the production from start to finish

* In-depth looks at the actual Zodiac crimes, including all-new interviews with the original investigators and survivors

We don't have any other details as of yet, but you can bet this is going to be one hell of a package. Stay tuned for more information on this release in the coming months.

Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Zodiac (Director’s Cut) on 8th January 2008. Based on the actual case files of one of the most intriguing unsolved crimes in the nation’s history, “Zodiac” is a thriller from David Fincher, director of “Se7en” and “Panic Room.” As a serial killer terrifies the San Francisco Bay Area and taunts police with his ciphers and letters, investigators in four jurisdictions search for the murderer. The case will become an obsession for four men as their lives and careers are built and destroyed by the endless trail of clues.

The director’s cut version of Zodiac arrives complete with bonus features (commentaries and multiple featurettes) as a two-disc set. Extras include:

Final details are still TBC and extras subject to change, but as you can see from the list it looks as though we can expect an even split between extras on the making of the film and extras on the actual Zodiac killer.

Ja zoiets. Qua speelduur scheelt het inderaad niet veel maar ik koop deze dan ook vooral voor de extra`s ipv. de extra speelduur. Die lijken me geweldig interessant

Maakt mij niet zoveel uit dat het een keepcase is. Ik heb de film nog niet gezien, dus dit wordt gewoon een zekere aanschaf voor mij. Hoef hem niet perse direct te hebben, dus wacht wel ff op een lagere prijs.

Vind het gewoon jammer. Dit vind ik nou echt zo`n cover waarbij een digipack geschikt it. Eens afwachten of de R3 een mooie digipack wordt
