Ledger's nominatie was niet onverwacht, maar voor Downey Jr's rol in Tropic Thunder wel (Best Supporting Actor). Had het niet verwacht.

Verder de usual Oscar contenders o.a. Milk, Reader, Frost/Nixon die veel nominaties slepen maar het lijkt vooral een strijd te zijn tussen Slumdog en Benjamin Button voor beste film van het jaar.

Dikgedrukte mogen van mij wel winnen. Kan niets zeggen over de kleine categorieën zoals animated en live-action short gezien ik niets daarvan ken.

Sally Hawkins voor Happy-Go--Lucky is ook wel een gemiste kans, dat was anders mijn keuze voor beste actrice geweest.

Heb Curious Case of Benjamin Button nog niet gezien dus daar kan ik moeilijk over oordelen. Opvallend dat Clint Eastwood niet is genomineerd voor Changeling of voor zijn rol in Gran Torino. Erg jammer..

Bale verbleekt letterlijk bij de overige genomineerden, bracht niets nieuws aan tafel dat we in Begins al van hem zagen, en toen was hij ook al niet genomineerd, waarom nu wel. Screenplay zaten teveel onwaarschijnlijkheden of toevalligheden om echt serieus genomen te worden voor Oscar overweging.

En de soundtrack, vindt het zelf perfect bij de film passen maar haal het apart en het is gewoon onheilspellend geluid om naar te luisteren (oftewel niet prettig).

Mee eens, behalve m.b.t. de soundtrack. Deze moet je juist niet los van de film zien, omdat m.i. beoordeeld moet worden wat die soundtrack toevoegt aan de film. Het zou niet onterecht zijn geweest als Dark Knight in deze categorie een nominatie had gekregen, maar hij steekt ook weer niet zo boven de rest uit dat het ontbreken van de nominatie merkwaardig of schandalig is.
Dark Knight heeft met 8 nominaties geen klagen.

Van de andere kant had ik iets meer nominaties voor The Wrestler verwacht. Hij maakt weliswaar kans op 2 van de zogenaamde grote Oscars, maar toch...

En ook hier weer Downey Jr. voor Tropic Thunder Gisteravond toevallig voor het eerst gezien op Blu-Ray en ik vond de film en Downey Jr. geweldig.

TDK wordt eindelijk op z'n plek gezet, meest overgewaardeerde film ooit, zeker leuk maar niet beter dan bijv. Batman Begins.

Je kan zeggen over TDK wat je wilt, maar ik vind het toch raar dat een award-show over Hollywood dat op hartje Hollywood plaatsvind hun grootste en beste blockbuster (niet beste film, maar blockbuster) van de afgelopen paar jaar overslaat in relevante prijzen. De film waar publiek en critici hand in hand naar toe gingen.

Begrijp mij niet verkeerd, die andere films zijn vast ook geweldig, ben al jaren fan van bijv. Boyle's films. Maar als een film zoals The Reader werkelijk niemand in de bioscoop bekijkt (kijk maar naar box-office) en TDK zelfs overwegend betere kritieken kreeg (wat cijfers betreft, zie critici, zie imdb) en bijna iedere filmliefhebber naar de bios kreeg nog geen eens genomineerd wordt.. Dat snap ik niet. Slumdog millionaire heeft misschien wat inhoud betreft meer te bieden. Maar TDK was ook echt geen no-brainer.

8 Awards voor zo'n soort film is juist wel uniek te noemen...

Verder denk ik dat Benjamin Button het slechts met de nominaties moet doen... (stille hoop?)

Maar TDK was ook echt geen no-brainer.

Dat valt nogal mee... Of tegen. Als je de film een beetje kritisch bekijkt, blijft er weinig over van de diepgang. Er zitten wat standaard-thema's in die je in de meeste comic-verfilmingen ook wel tegenkomt, de diverse snode plannetjes zitten niet zo erg sterk in elkaar als je er echt over nadenkt en de uitwerking van de morele laag is best banaal. Het echt sterke punt van de film is de rol van Ledger. Voor de rest is het een aardige film, maar ik geloof niet dat er sprake is van groot onrecht door het ontbreken van nominaties in een aantal belangrijke categorieën.

Me dunkt overigens dat de makers zich al genoeg in de handen mogen wrijven met het succes van de film.

Benjamin Button is ook zwaar overgewaardeerd en ook niet meer dan een blockbuster, maar krijgt dan weer wel 10 nominaties en in tegenstelling tot The Dark Knight wel in de belangrijke categorieën. En ik vrees dat ze er daar heel wat van gaan verzilveren. Slumdog krijgt de Globes, Button de Oscars, dat zie ik een beetje aankomen. Al hoop ik dat Slumdog ook bij de Oscars weer heel wat beeldjes mee naar huis mag nemen.

Slumdog is toch wel echt beduidend beter dan het idd. ook ernstig overgewaardeerde Button, hoop dan ook zoals ik eerder zei dat zei het slechts met de nominaties moeten stellen.

Betreffende TDK, vind beste mannelijke bijrol toch wel 'n belangrijke cat.

Beste acteur voor TDK is inderdaad misschien twijfelachtig, maar de screenplay zit naar mijn mening toch heel ingenieus in elkaar.
De soundtrack is zeker niet onprettig om naar te luisteren, dat zijn maar 1 of 2 nummers. Ik kan eigenlijk geen minpunten ontdekken aan de OST, werkt perfect icm de film, maar ook om zonder de film naar te luisteren.

Bij de Globes was Revolutionary Road nog wel vertegenwoordigd in de 'grote' categorieen, bij de Oscars geen nominatie voor Winslet, DiCaprio, Mendes of voor beste film, alleen 1 voor best supporting male, toch apart.
