Varèse Sarabande heeft vandaag aangekondigd dat ze op 15 juni een Deluxe Edition van Star Trek van Michael Giacchino uitbrengen. Toen de film vorig jaar in de bioscopen werd uitgebracht bracht Varèse Sarabande al een soundtrack uit met zo'n 45 minuten muziek. De Deluxe Edition CD bevat nog eens bijna 55 minuten extra muziek op 2 CD's. De CD is verkrijgbaar vanaf 15 juni, maar is nu al te bestellen. Er zijn 5000 exemplaren beschikbaar.

It opened on May 8, 2009 and became the blockbuster film that brought Star Trek back to life. Star Trek went on to make over $250 million at the domestic box office and become one of the best selling DVDs of the year. The original best-selling soundtrack quickly rose the be the No. 1 album in overall sales at iTunes.
The Score is by Michael Giacchino, who recently won the Best Score Academy Award for his score for UP and just completed work on the sixth and final season of the classic television show LOST.

This special, deluxe edition from our CD Club presents over an hour of additional, unreleased music and sequences it into a chronological presentation of nearly 100 minutes of music from the film, including the final film version of the Main Title.

The elaborate and beautiful, 2-CD packaging includes a 28-page, full-color booklet (in the dimensions of a Blue-Ray disc case), with new liner notes by Starlog Magazine founder Kerry O'Quinn.

Ik heb hem ook besteld, ben benieuwd. Ik neem aan dat de cd's de score zo goed als volledig bevatten? Of missen er nog steeds dingen?

Hier en daar missen wat dingen die op het allerlaatste moment zijn toegevoegd (zoals extra percussie en koorzang) en wat alternatieve opnames.

Inderdaad.

Ik heb er geen problemen mee (in tegenstelling to diverse mensen op een aantal forums). Meestal gesproken moet je jaren wachten totdat er een release verschijnt met meer muziek en deze keer was het maar één jaar. Volgens mij is er alleen bij de Lord of the Rings-trilogie zo snel een uitgave verschenen met meer muziek. Oké, hier en daar zijn er More Music From-albums verschenen (Braveheart, Gladiator, Titanic), maar dat is het.

Ik heb vandaag de CD ontvangen. Afgelopen vrijdag verzonden en nu al binnen!!! Ik ga er vanavond naar luisteren.
