The Old Team is Back? ''Red'' sequel has a script
The old folks of Red (Retired Extremely Dangerous) proved to us last year that senior citizens can still serve a purpose, as the team of reunited, government-trained killing machines triumphed over evil.
The team, led by ageless action guru Bruce Willis are set to return, as MTV reports the script for a Red follow-up is good to go.
MTV spoke with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura at the premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and he said the original gang will be back: Willis, John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren.
"We're trying to put it together," he said. "We just got a script and it's really good. We're all just now discussing how to put it all back together again."
Bonaventura also mentioned that Red fans (no, not of the team) can expect to see a few newcomers added to the roster for the second film.
"I think the audience would be disappointed if we didn't bring back the crew, but we've got to freshen the crew. We'll bring in one or two characters that'll play a really big part--maybe three, but definitely one or two."
Karl Urban would be a cool character worthy of more screen time in the sequel. He was solid as the villain turned sympathetic ally to Willis and friends in Red. Other than that, I'm just glad they're making a sequel, and don't have much of a preference on who joins the elderly agents.
I suspect when the producer says we'll see more new faces, he means new older cast members.
The Robert De Niros, Harrison Fords and such.
Once again, we have proof that comic book adapted movies are box-office gold, and everyone wants sequels and trilogies to everything.
Good thing Red is sequel worthy.
BRON!
