Lovende recensie over de Black Cats boxset op dvdbeaver

Nee. Had misschien geen overbodige luxe geweest. Maar die service kunnen we door de bezuinigingen nauwelijks nog betalen. En zeker niet voor een handjevol mensen. Wat dat aangaat slaat de film ook een beetje op het kunst- en cultuurklimaat in ons eigen land, alleen wordt deze niet aan ons opgelegd door een dictator, maar door een door het volk gekozen bestuur Ik weet niet wat erger is.

Als je het doet moet je het wel goed doen. Ga zelf de film in het voorjaar één keer vertonen met een lezing van een deskundige. Zonder die lezing is de film nauwelijks te behapstukken. Tenzij je de regisseur door en door kent.

Raad je aan om in de toekomst dit soort films niet meer te vertonen. Komt toch geen hond op af.

Heb de set vorige week ontvangen, is een mooie set met een prachtig boek erbij. Zal waarschijnlijk komende week een begin (proberen te) maken met het kijken van de films

Raad je aan om in de toekomst dit soort films niet meer te vertonen. Komt toch geen hond op af.

Het aantal van dit soort films dat we draaien valt wel mee denk ik. Maar die discussie is bij ons intern ook wel gaande. Misschien dat we uiteindelijk ook wel min of meer (financieel) toe worden gedwongen om met dit soort films te stoppen. Maar een deel, waaronder ondergetekende, wil onze taak als filmhuis toch niet verloochenen. Een bioscoop is er immers al. Je wilt mensen toch graag een zo breed mogelijke keuze blijven bieden. Maar klaarblijkelijk tegen beter weten in. We proberen de kleinere en moeilijkere films zo lang mogelijk in stand te houden door ze te compenseren met voldoende 'verantwoorde' publiekstrekkers. Zo hebben we aankomende week de film Fucking Perfect met de mogelijkheid om daar een speciaal geselecteerd eet-arrangement aan vast te koppelen bij de plaatselijke horeca. Daar hopen we dan weer genoeg mensen mee te trekken. Afijn, het blijft voor ons zoeken naar de balans.

In the spirit of full disclosure, we want to let you all know that we have a number of US only titles coming up (one will be announced this Friday). We did everything we could to acquire these for the UK too however when this was unsuccessful we thought it best to release something rather than nothing at all.

Exclusieve US versies? Dat is nieuw. Regio maakt mij niet uit, alleen is de vraag hoe het zit met de verkoop i.v.m. invoerrechten e.d., aangezien ik gelezen heb dat ze die niet uit de UK shop mogen verkopen. Via een nieuwe webshop? Ebay shop? Amazon.com?

Exclusieve US versies? Dat is nieuw. Regio maakt mij niet uit, alleen is de vraag hoe het zit met de verkoop i.v.m. invoerrechten e.d., aangezien ik gelezen heb dat ze die niet uit de UK shop mogen verkopen. Via een nieuwe webshop? Ebay shop? Amazon.com?

Ik las het ook. Erg teleurstellend. Arrow uitgaves importeren (terwijl ze UK-based zijn), zie ik niet echt zitten. Dan betaal je alsnog de hoofdprijs met verzendkosten etc. Ben benieuwd om welke titel het gaat.

De nieuwe aankondigingen tot nu toe:

- Hellraiser trilogy: standaardbox met amarays, mist de vierde disc en het boek van 200 pagina's
- Five Dolls for an August Moon (Mario Bava), voor mij onbekend maar zeker niet onbemind
- Reform Girls DVD, geen blu-ray. Deze lijkt mij juist wel grappig.
- Audition (limited steelbook en amaray). Geweldige film, al twijfel ik of ik 'm meteen koop. Volgens mij was mijn DVD helemaal niet zo slecht, dus die zal ik eerst bekijken. Waarschijnlijk wacht ik hier wel even mee.

Dit zijn trouwens allemaal UK titels. Morgen nieuwe aankondigingen, met minimaal 1 US exclusive .

Nog een aanvulling: blijkbaar zit er een exclusief boekje (en de DVD, maar die hoef ik niet) bij de steelbook van Audition. Dan moet ik toch die hebben denk ik ....

Niet zo'n sterke line-up deze keer. En ik mag hopen dat de exclusiviteit van de US uitgave een uitzondering zal blijken te zijn. Slechte ontwikkeling dit.

Van Audition heb ik al de US bd. Wat een lelijke cover trouwens van Audition....gemiste kans want er zijn zoveel coole covers van deze film te maken. Five Dolls is echt een mindere Bava...mn dvd volstaat. Benieuwd wat er bijkomt aan releases want hier zit helaas niets voor me bij.

Sheba Baby: weer een Pam Grier; in het verleden weleens gezien, staat mij alleen bij dat ik Coffy en Foxy Brown beter vond. Sla ik dus over.

Deze ziet er een stuk interessanter uit moet ik zegen. Ik ken ze allemaal niet trouwens.
