Star Wars: Rebels (2014)

Deze nieuwe TV serie verdiend een eigen draad ipv besproken te worden in de algemene Star Wars draad…zeker nu vorige week de eerste (korte en weinigzeggende) trailer is verschenen en afgelopen weekend het eerste personage bekend is gemaakt.

Verder is bekend dat het dus een CGI serie zal zijn, zich afspeelt tussen Episode III en IV en dat men (Dave Filoni heeft dit tijdens een presentatie op CEII laten zien) gebruik maakt van ontwerpen van de legendarische Ralph McQuarrie.
Tie Fighters, Star Destroyers en Stormtroopers zoals we uit de OT kennen zijn van de partij, net als een nieuw rebellenschip genaamd ‘The Ghost’.

In de herfst van 2014 zal de eerste aflevering verschijnen.

Zelf verwacht ik van deze serie meer dan het –in mijn ogen- weinig boeiende Clone Wars (wat vooral door de setting kwam: de korte periode tussen Episode II en III)
Bij deze reeks kan eindelijk de periode tussen de PT en de OT (wat jarenlang grotendeels een ‘no go area’ was inzake boeken etc) worden getoond.

Jammergenoeg is de eerste afbeelding van de bad-guy dan weer behoorlijk ‘Clone Wars stijl’, daar waar men gezegd had dat deze reeks een ander soort look zou krijgen.
Maar goed: de rest ziet er vooralsnog top uit en ik ben zeer benieuwd naar de hoofdpersonages en verhaallijn.

Snel afzetten die Clone Wars....en de Droids en Ewok animatiereeks kijken. Met name Droids is zoveel beter.

-Te weinig boeiende verhalen
-Teveel op kids gericht
-Te langdradig (daar het tussen II en III inzit, wat een korte tijdsperiode is)
-Doordat men voor deze setting gekozen heeft heeft men zich beperkt qua mogelijkheden
-Baby Boba Fett
-De schepen etc zijn imo weinig interessant (de Spider-droids bv; was ook het grote manco van EpII)

De stemacteurs waren dan weer een pluspunt.

Billy Dee Williams told an audience today that he was indeed set to appear in the upcoming Star Wars Rebels TV series.

It happened at Star Wars Weekends, tweeted by The WolfPack Podcast and further reported by MakingStarWars.net. Stage host James Arnold Taylor, who was interviewing Williams, reportedly confirmed Williams' statement. Good news for Billy D. fans.

Late yesterday, we received an email from ForceCast listener Greg, who works at a company that helps produce Star Wars Rebels for an international audience (that's as specific as he would allow me to be in describing his job). Greg gave us some new information about the series' cast and its premiere on the Disney Channel this fall. (Beware of minor spoilers below.)

• A name we've not heard in a long time. Obi-Wan Kenobi will appear in the pilot, voiced by James Arnold Taylor. (MakingStarWars heard that he will appear as a "holographic recording.")
• From Death Eater to Inquisitor. The Imperial Inquisitor, whose voice has been a topic of intense conversation since he was first revealed, will be played by Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs.
• Don't forget Kallus. Imperial agent Kallus is the main enemy of the two-episode series premiere, which also features Wookiees.

Hi Guys!

I have some very exciting and ex[c]lusive info about Rebels just for you! I've been lucky enough to watch the entire pilot and I have some things to tell you.

Lets start with the small things. The pilot is indeed 2 regular episodes long, there are wookies in it and Agent Kallus is the main enemy. We don't see the Inquisitor more than in the trailer. I won't tell you anything else about the story, because I don't want to spoil it.

Now, the exciting part: So Agent Kallus. The one, that says "All troopers, focus your fire on… on the Jedi."You were right, he is voiced by David Oyelowo.

Wait, it gets better: Obi-Wan will be in the pilot, but not in the way, you would think. He will, of course, be voiced by James Arnold Taylor.
And now, the Inquisitor. He is voiced by Jason Isaacs. I know. I didn't see that coming either.

So, that's all folks, I hope I gave you some interesting tidbits.

De plot van de eerste aflevering(en) van Rebels:

• Ezra comes upon a cool score, blasters, ammo, and supplies when he finds The Rebels destroying and stealing the crates.
• Zeb offers Ezra a ride away from the explosions as Imperials show up.
• Zeb locks Ezra in a storeroom when he gets aboard their ship after they give him a ride away from the munitions destruction.
• On the way, the crew stops and begins to hand out food to the starving masses they stole from the Empire.
• However, because Zeb shoved Ezra in the closet Ezra plans to snoop around the ship for some loot. Later on after they visit a spot called Tarkintown (Tangletown), Ezra goes through the ship.
• He’s almost called by something…that’s when he discovers the Holocron and Kanan’s lightsaber. Kanan catches him, takes the saber, but Ezra pockets the Holocron.
• The rebels trade the stolen blasters they didn’t blow up to Vizago. Vizago then gives them the flight plan of the ship transporting enslaved Wookiees. The Rebels dock with the Imperials and try and pass Zeb off as a rare hairless Wookiee!
• Ezra is told to stay on the ship with Hera. But he gets a cold shiver down his spine while the the others go on the mission…it was a trap, Vizago sold them out to the Empire!
• Hera looks to Ezra and says “If all you do is fight for your own life, your life’s worth nothing.” This truth makes Ezra angry.
• Star Destroyers appear over the city in Space scaring the locals.
• With no Wookiees aboard the ship the rebels are trying to make their way off the ship, but a squadron of Stormtroopers waits for Kanan and Zeb to come out. Ezra takes his slingshot and shoots a detonator packet at them, blowing up the entire squadron of Stormtroopers. He feels heroic for the first time.
• Meanwhile Sabine was in the gravity control station and she deactivates the gravity on the ship and speedily floats towards the Ghost, thanks to Chopper’s rockets.
• Ezra ends up fighting with Agent Kallus and Zeb tries to escape without Ezra, angering Ezra.
• Ezra is put into the Star Destroyer’s brig by Agent Kallus.
• Agent Kallus is of the Imperial Security Bureau.
• The ISB are the nastiest Imperials around, even other Imperials fear them.
• While in holding, Ezra activates the Holocron. Ezra stares at it and it unfolds as if it understood his silent command and a recording begins to play. Ezra is confused by a mysterious man named Obi-Wan Kenobi telling him to “Trust in the Force.”
• Obi-Wan explains that the Emperor is actually a Sith Lord who betrayed the Jedi and destroyed the Republic.
• Ezra fakes coughing and proclaims Emperor Palpatine his uncle so they open his cell door. Ezra wedges himself to the ceiling and pops out the door before they even think to look up for their prisoner.
• Ezra runs for the airlocks and takes a trooper’s helmet.
• Ezra hears over the coms that The Ghost, he was not abandoned!
• He also discovers the location of the Wookiees.
• When Ezra gets aboard the Ghost, Zeb slugs him in the helmet thinking he’s a Stormtrooper further adding to their contentious relationship.
• The Wookiees have all been shipped off to the Spice Mines of Kessel.
• Ezra tells the crew they started this job, they should finish it. The Wookiees must be saved.
• They go to the Wookiee camp to save the Wookiees on Kessel, Spice Mine K77 to be exact.
• Illegal Spice has been sold in Capital City since the Empire took over.
• The Empire is not expecting the Rebels on Kessel. The stuff we saw of Kanan in the trailers with his saber is on Kessel.
• Sabine speaks a little Wookiee. The Wookiees call Ezra “The Little Warrior.”
• After this good deed and Obi-Wan’s message, Ezra realizes he must join the crew of the Ghost and figure out what the Force is.
• The only drawback? Ezra has to bunk with Zeb.
• The episode ends with the footage of the Inquisitor and Kallus speaking from the teaser trailer.

Anyhoo.....zojuist de eerste aflevering gezien (Disney heeft gisteren de pilot beschikbaar gesteld voor Watch Disney; een site/dienst waarmee inwoners van de US de pilot een week eerder kunnen bekijken).
Via de 'welbekende kanalen die op DVD.nl niet besproken mogen worden ' is hij nu voor iedereen te zien.

Applaus voor Disney: ze hebben een animatiereeks weten te creeren die mij (itt Clone Wars) heeft weten te pakken en door nieuwe en jonge Star Wars fans én de oude garde gewaardeerd kan worden. Hints naar de OT, gebruikmakend van John Williams' muziek, oude bekenden (TIE Fighters, Star Destroyers) en de designs van McQuarrie, Nilo Rodis-Jamero, Joe Johnston, zeker niet te kinderlijk (er wordt al snel een TIE Fighter neergeknald, dus er vallen doden).......zoon Lucas (3) keek mee en was zichtbaar onder de indruk!

Met oa rollen van oude bekenden als R2D2, C-3PO en Lando (Billy Dee gaat een van de stemmen doen....dus ik neem aan Lando?) en wellicht nog meer kan het alleen maar nog beter worden!

Mn vriendin kwam met deze naam. Ik was uiteraard direct enthousiast maar wees haar wel op de link met George en SW. Was geen probleem
Bij onze dochter (3 maanden) is er qua naam (Lotte) geen SW link.....maar wel qua datum (op 9 juni is ook Natalie Portman jarig )

Het is wel een feest van herkenning, de ruimteschepen, de stormtroopers en de originele score van Williams.
kinderachtig vond ik het zeker niet, voor de kleintjes nog iets te gewelddadig.
