This summer's Ant-Man is getting a sequel. Marvel has officially announced Ant-Man And The Wasp, plus: three untitled films...
Starring Paul Rudd, Marvel's Ant-Man proved to be a lighter, more contained companion piece to this summer's behemoth of a blockbuster, Age Of Ultron. That Ant-Man had a bit of a turbulent production (which we won't rehash here) led to some speculation that director Peyton Reed's superhero flick might stumble; to the surprise of both critics and audiences, Ant-Man proved to be a frothy, entertaining success.
Well, if you enjoyed that film, there's reason to celebrate: Marvel has just officially announced the sequel. It's called Ant-Man And The Wasp - a title which makes patent what most comic book fans would probably have assumed in any case: that Evangeline Lilly will be assuming the role of The Wasp alongside Paul Rudd's incredible shrinking superhero.
Ant-Man And The Wasp is slated for release on the 6th July 2018 - filling in the slot originally occupied by Black Panther. To make room, Black Panther's now moved forward to the 16th February 2018, while Captain Marvel will move from its November 2018 position to the 8th March 2019.
It's a bit of a shake-up for Phase Three in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then. But the surprises don't end there; Marvel has also announced three, as-yet unnamed films for the 1st May, the 10th July and the 6th November 2020.
