First Look Studios has scheduled 2 seasons of Baywatch for October 3. The series that gave Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra their big breaks began as an NBC series in 1989 before it moved into syndication the next year, and became one of the worlds hottest shows.
First Look has decided to release the syndicated seasons, so the first two sets will be the second and third seasons of the series. Each set will feature 5 discs holding the 22 episodes for that season, and they'll be priced at $34.98 each. Right now the sets are dubbed "Collection 1" and "Collection 2," but they'll be renamed "Season 2" and "Season 3" (Pamela Anderson's first season). The plan is to release all 9 syndicated seasons over the next few years. That leaves the first season off the release schedule, but fans shouldn't worry.
We're told that each set will contain a bonus disc featuring episodes from the "Lost Season." You'll be able to collect the entire first season by purchasing the syndicated season sets. Of course you won't have a box to put on your shelf....or will you? Of course you will! There are plans to make a box available through a mail-in rebate as well. It seems as though First Look and Fremantle Media have thought of everything, and fans should appreciate their effects. They haven't announced anything else for bonus material, but we'll post the news when we get it. Keep in mind some of this hasn't been made official yet, and there's a chance things may change, but these are the current plans. We haven't heard anything more about the previously mentioned "best of" set featuring Pamela Anderson's favorite episodes.
Here's a look at the box art, though these still carry the "Collection" label instead of "Season."
