Anything is possible, but Universal has stated that they have no plans to release any portion of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century on DVD anytime soon.
DISCLAIMER: I've held off propagating the "Buck Rogers on DVD" buzz that's heated up recently to see how it would eventually pan out. The most promising news on the topic is Judith Moose's announcement this past January 2004.
For those of you who don't know Judith Moose represents both Gil Gerard and Erin Gray who starred in the 1979 theatrical film and 1979-81 television series as Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering respectively.
Judith has announced that the DVDs for the first season will be released this coming October by Universal, the studio that owns the rights to the film and television series, but Universal hasn't announced an official release date yet. In fact, Universal refuses to comment "on-the-record" in regards to the matter.
She also recently announced that Universal has opted to end the negotiations with the cast of the series regarding the release of the DVDs, which means that there will be no commentaries from the cast and/or any cast-supplied extras.
If you're interested you can call, e-mail, or send a letter to Universal's mailing address to voice your opinion about their decision to not include commentaries and cast supplied extras.

My personal opinion is that it seems likely that the first season of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century will be released on DVD later this year. What will be included seems to be the big question mark.
With that said, I'm also taking the news with a grain of salt until I actually see the DVDs listed on Amazon.com. I try to keep things in perspective by remembering that Universal is a major film studio and that they see Buck Rogers in the 25th Century as a 25-year-old TV series that didn't even run for two complete seasons. That way if they end up pulling the plug on the project I won't be too disappointed.
