Klinkt goed. En dan heb ik het vooral over de extra's. Maar ja: ik heb al die films al op DVD. En vaak ook in uitgaves die al best wel goed zijn.

Defective MGM Hitchcock Premiere Collection:

Reports are coming in by the droves about the MGM Hitchcock Premiere Collection. We do not yet own the entire set and have only covered Notorious and Rebecca which played without issue on my Malata - but we understand many individual's players are having problems with all, or selective transfers from the set. These represent faults such as the disc wobbling in the tray, unsubstantiated noise in playback, freezing and chapter skips. MGM must recall this set immediately. If you own the set please verify if you too have these problems and report them to the outlet you purchased them or MGM directly. If we find an email to use we will post it here.

Sorry we could not have identified this earlier. I suspect other sites haven’t covered it because they assumed their discs were a bad batch.

P.S. A good friend received his replacement set (second) from Amazon and most DVDs wouldn’t play on his two different machines.

1e 2 disc's aleens gecheckt en rebecca en daar is niets mis mee, ook niet dat ze wiebelen in de dvdspeler en dat heb ik toch wel eens meegemaakt met UK dvd's. Tot nu toe werkt het bij mij perfect.

Just going thru my set now, so far Paradine Case, Lifeboat and Young and Innocent seem OK. However, I tried LODGER in two different DVD players so far, it makes a loud noise in player and then I get message on front of dvd playier saying no disc.

Inmiddels contact opgenomen , nog even afwachten dus. Heb het wel eens eerder meegemaakt toen kon ik de foutieve disc's terug sturen en kreeg ik de nieuwe later gewoon toegezonden, verwacht ongeveer hetzelfde concept.

Sorry voor mijn offtopic maar ik heb hetzelfde aan de hand met een dvd van Optimum Releasing. Van deze maatschappij had ik al eens een dvd die uitermate veel lawaai maakt (Exiled). Nu heb ik gezeik met mn Memories of Murder dvd. Heel erg storend. Op die disk zit een fabrieksfout die inmiddels is hersteld (er is een nieuwe versie gemaakt). Ik heb de dvd bij Play vandaan (in juli gekocht) dus daar kan ik hem niet meer ruilen. Een mail geschreven naar Optimum maar die gasten reageren niet. Op 22 oktober de volgende mail gestuurd:

I bought this title from www.play.com. I upgraded this suberb movie but unfortunately my copy has some serious flaws. I was checking some sites and found this comment on the site www.dvdtimes.com:

We have now received a new corrected copy of the DVD from Optimum. While the pixilation problems have been fixed, the quality of the transfer remains largely the same as described above with macro blocking artefacts occasionally visible and a less than bright tone. The new disc however is 5 minutes longer than the previously issued DVD, confirming one of the comments received below that some scenes were missing from the film. These scenes occur at the 1:42:59 mark as a suspect climbs the steps leaving the interrogation room. In the older version of the disc, this cuts abruptly to Inspector Suh on a stake-out. The corrected disc restores missing scenes of the Chief Inspector on the phone, a meeting in the forensics lab, the team pushing a stalled car, the hospital scene where the amputation is carried out and a scene between Park and his girlfriend. The running time of the old release with these scenes missing is 2:05:08, the corrected edition runs to 2:10:22.

My copy has some pixilations during several scenes and I noticed the abrupt cut as well. I understand from dvdtimes that the problems has been fixed with a new version.

I really like to recieve the new version with the problems fixed. Can you help me? I don't want to change it with play because I am afraid I get a faulty one again. I rather change my disk with you so I am sure I receive a correct copy.

Da's wel klote als je besteld via webwinkels en niet heel snel je dvd bekijkt. Fabrieksfoutjes ontdek je dan pas veel later. Ik hoop dat ik hem nog om mag ruilen.

Ik denk dat het omruilen weinig zin heeft, kan je beter je geld terug vragen. Mijn dvd van Exiled had precies hetzelfde probleem. Dus gewoon een fabricagefout.

Ik heb ook die dvd van Exiled, die maakt voornamelijk lawaai...erg irritant. Ik heb al contact gehad met Optimum (na drie weken een reactie) en ze gaan kijken waar ze een gecorrigeerde versie hebben liggen die ze mij op gaan sturen. Zoals je kan lezen op de site van dvdtimes is er een gecorrigeerde versie in omloop....dus ruilen heeft zeker zin. Mijn versie mist 5 minuten aan scenes en is er "pixilation" te zien tijdens sommige scenes. In een nieuwe persing schijnt dat dus opgelost te zijn. Ruilen of geld terug vragen bij Play kan niet meer, ik had de dvd in juli gekocht.....da's te lang geleden.

Inmiddels alle disc's getest en hier mijn conclusie:

Van een aantal disc's had ik last van stilstaande beelden en vervolgens sloegen ze een stuk over, nu heb ik alle disc's gepoetst met een speciaal disc doekje van Neovo en deden alle disc's het allemaal goed. Mijn conclusie is dat het ligt aan de verpakking de disc's worden geduwd tegen het harde karton waarbij de disc's krassen oplopen, ook heb ik het idee dat de disc's gewoon niet van goede kwaliteit zijn ze lijken erg dun. Vandaar mischien dat daardoor de mensen last hebben van dat de disc's schommelen in de dvdspeler wat veel lawaai maakt, echter heb ik daar totaal geen last van. Inmiddels heb ik de disc's apart verpakt in een ander hoesje maar dit is natuurlijk niet zoals het hoort. MG/FOX wil er nog niet van weten,ook heb ik dvdpacific gemaild en die hebben ook nog niets gehoord van MGM/FOX maar en defecte disc's kon ik terugsturen voor een replacement. Notorious & Young & Innocent zijn de meest zwakke dvd's , qua afspelen gaat het goed maar als ik next chapter aanklik heeft ie daar nogal veel werk mee. Kortom het is niet 100 punten allemaal en ik ga straks nog even contact opnemen met dvdpacific. Tip zou je ze niet apart willen verpakken maak dan maar snel wat back-ups voordat ze helemaal verkrast zijn.

Heb alle discs nu gecontroleerd en de schade blijkt nog best mee te vallen: enkel Spellbound en Young & Innocent lijken problemen te geven. Heb gemaild met DVDpacific en ze gaan beide titels vervangen met de single discs versies, dus dan lijkt het er op dat het al met al nog goed gaat komen met mijn box.

Fijn dat ze de discs willen omruilen...mijn set is inmiddels ook binnen, zal ze van het weekend maar eens door lopen.

heb zonet mijn exemplaar even getest, ook meerdere discs die 'blokkeren', probleem is dat ik die eind oktober bij DVDPacific besteld had en mijn 14 dagen 'grace period' allang verlopen zijn.
Tsja... dat komt ervan als je een boel kijkachterstand hebt, zeker. Zou klagen bij DVDPacific nog zin hebben?

Nou, ik zou zeker eens contact opnemen met pacific, want ze zijn bekend met het probleem en weten dat iedere set problemen geeft. En als je nul op het rekest krijgt, heb je het tenminste geprobeerd :wink:

Hello Paul,

How are you? There seems to be a massive issue with this title, however, it doesn't seem like MGM is setting up a recall program for these faulty titles. Several of our customers received the product under these same conditions. At the time, I informed them that it was a mute point to set up a replacement, since all the batches of this product are arriving in the same fashion. Most of the customers that received the damaged product, have made several complaints in online forums, however, MGM has not responded to it. If for some reason MGM creates the recall program I will be sure to help you out with this set.

DVD Pacific Returns

Het ziet er naar uit dat dit mijn grootste DVD-miskoop wordt, alhoewel dat dus absoluut niets met de inhoud an sich te maken heeft.

Ik heb ook even zitten surfen naar mogelijke oplossingen en ben op een apparaat genaamd Skip Doctor uitgekomen. Heeft iemand daar ervaringen mee?

How are you? The Hitchcock set has been identified with many faults in it. It is very well documented in online forums. Unfortunately, any sort of replacement we set, will have the same faults as the one you received. So there's no sense in setting up a replacement for it. We were hoping that MGM would setup a recall program for the package. However, MGM never produced this for its customers. The best we can do in this case is a refund.

Dat gaat dus dan maar een refund worden...beetje jammer weer....

Bedoelen ze nu dat de Premiere Collection niet bedoelt was voor het publiek of dat MGM nooit een recall program heeft gedaan voor hun klanten?
En een refund houdt dus in dat je een deel van het aankoopbedrag terugkrijgt of stuur je de set gewoon helemaal terug?

Eeerst terug, dan pas centjes terug...zal me ook wel weer een aardige duit aan verzendkosten kosten.....iemand die mij het dikgedrukte kan uitleggen?

Dat ze je niet gaan betalen voor het feit dat je die box weer terug in een doos moet stoppen, dichttapen, en de kosten die je daar mee maakt etc.

nou nee, ze zeggen daar enkel dat ze niet meer gaan terugbetalen dan surface mail. Dus als je het via Priority mail of zo terug zendt, dan zijn die extra kosten voor je eigen rekening - ze zullen alleen het bedrag op je creditcard storten wat nodig is om die DVD's via surface mail te sturen. En je hoeft dus zelf niets te betalen aan die box, alles wordt vergoed, behalve de envelop waarin je het terugstuurt, maar ieder slim mens dat vaak DVD's via internet bestelt heeft nog wel zo'n envelop liggen.

Ik ga dr vanuit dat ik het hele setje moet retourneren, en niet alleen de dvd's......?

Dus dan zou ik denken dat je enkel de schijfjes op hoeft te sturen, die box hebben ze verder toch niks meer aan en zullen ze daar toch gewoon weggooien - het gaat ze er enkel om dat je de DVD's niet meer hebt zodat je niet en de DVD's en teruggestort geld hebt. Althans, dat lijkt me, maar je kunt voor de zekerheid natuurlijk altijd nog een mailtje sturen om dat te vragen.

Wat ik alleen niet zo goed begrijp is waarom je de hele box moet terugsturen, geven alle DVD's problemen dan? Bij mij waren het slechts enkele DVD's en die worden dus nu vervangen.

Bij mij zijn alle schijven beroerd....bij een paar wil de film uberhaupt niet starten, bij de anderen blijft ' ie bij de overgang van het ene naar het andere hoofddstuk hangen....zou mooi zijn wanneer ik de box zelf mag houden, ik zal het voor de zekerigheid nog maar eens vragen aan ze.

Kreeg vandaag de bevestiging van DVD Pacific dat de twee titels uit mijn set die het niet deden verzonden zijn, met de losse uitgaves. Zodoende heb ik dan uiteindelijk toch de hele set compleet en werkend. Pacific zegt dat de box nu wel uit de handel genomen is (en men bij Fox het probleem dus eindelijk enigszins onderkent) en hij staat idd ook niet meer op hun site, maar wel gewoon nog op Amazon :confused:

Ik wacht nog even af hoor, pas als er een nieuwe druk op de markt komt zal ik gaan overwegen deze aan te schaffen 8) In ieder geval netjes van Pacific dat ze je nu goed werkende versies hebben toegestuurd Maikel (y)
