LG Unveils Super-Thin 2.6mm (0.1 inch) LCD HDTV Panel It looks like thin is back to being in. Was it ever out? Well, no. However, now displays are getting downright anorexic. If that's actually possible for a TV, we'd say LG has made it happen. Today, the manufacturer announced an LCD panel with a depth of just 2.6mm, that's about 1/10 of an inch (0.102" to be precise) Aside from the uber-thin panel, this 42-inch LCD will also come packing 120Hz refresh rate technology and a 1920 x 1080 resolution. LG's super-slimming technologies include an edge-lit LED backlight system and proprietary optical film technology. Aside from that, we also know that the product weighs less than 4 kilograms -- or about 8.8 pounds to you and me. "With the development of the world's thinnest LED LCD TV panel that is only 2.6mm thick, LG Display has once again demonstrated its technical prowess to satisfy customer demand for high resolution and slim design products," said Dr. In Jae Chung, LG Display's CTO and Executive Vice President.
