Het duurt nog even, maar er is natuurlijk al nieuws voor dit groot project... Confirmed: Russo brothers to helm Avengers: Infinity War Marvel's confirmed that Joe and Anthony Russo will take over from Joss Whedon on Avengers: Infinity War for Marvel... Update: This is a confirmation of a confirmation, really, but significant news for the Marvel cinematic universe nevertheless. Marvel has formally announced what many of us already knew by late March: that Captain America: The Winter soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo are to direct the Avengers sequels Infinity War Part 1 and Infinity War Part 2. The news comes, of course, mere weeks before the release of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, directed by Joss Whedon. Meanwhile, the Russo brothers are preparing for their next movie for the MCU, Captain America: Civil War. Avengers: Age Of Ultron is out in UK cinemas on the 21st April. Our original story follows... If you needed any further proof as to how important directors Joe and Anthony Russo are to the Marvel cinematic universe, then let this be it. The pair, who so far have made Captain America: The Winter Soldier for the studio, are about to start shooting Captain America: Civil War. And now it's been confirmed that they're set to take over from Joss Whedon on The Avengers movies. Whedon is just polishing off this summer's Avengers: Age Of Ultron. But for Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2, the mantle is passing to the Russos. The films are expected to shoot across 2016 and 2017. It's busy times for the Russo brothers too. Just the other week, it was confirmed that they're part of the creative team behind a second new Ghostbusters movie, the one with Channing Tatum involved. Furthermore, they've inked a production deal with Sony to develop material there. That's all in addition to their Marvel work, which is going to keep them busy across at least three films. As things stand, Captain America: Civil War is due in cinemas in May 2016, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 on May 4th 2018, and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 on May 3rd 2019.
